Weaning Off Bad Carbs: Boost Your Mood

The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting. ~ Walt Disney

I’m a huge Disney fan. When I say this, I’m referring to the man himself, Walt.

Walt created an empire that will live in this world forever and you know how? He never gave up. He didn’t take no for an answer. He saw his vision and decided: This is reality. AND guess what? It became one.

Rejections, debt collectors pounding at his door, banks slamming doors, among the eye rolls and discouraging words… Walt persevered.

There’s much to admire in a man. He builds a magical empire with infinite tenacity and a mouse. (and a huge heart)

Ponder on Walt’s quote for a moment, when he imagines an infinite amusement park:

“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

Now ponder this.

His words, ideas and belief are so powerful. They follow his death into the twenty-first century, fifty-four years after his death. They are stronger than ever. HIS imagination continues on in millions of other people’s minds, hearts and souls around the world. (Really, think about it, it’s mind blowing)

Walt Disney did not take “no” for an answer. Because of this, people of all races, religions, genders, and ages from around the world come together at one place. People base what they want to do in life, become, career and otherwise on… you get the idea?

That, friends, is some serious positive brain power.

Now, I’d love to give you a history lesson on this marvelous man because I admire him. I’m going to simplify Walt’s lesson now. I will explain the connection to bad carbs weaning. I’ll also cover its relevance to the topic. What you tell yourself sticks in your brain. Like super glue. What if Walt told himself he was a failure? What if, after the debt collectors shut his office doors and he couldn’t pay employees he said “Well, that’s it. I failed again,” and just quit?

Look, when you say things like “Oh, I’m so stupid…” or “I can’t stop eating fast food…” your subconscious mind is soaking in the idea that you are stupid. It is building barriers against activities you’ve never even attempted because of fear. If you tell yourself ‘I have anxiety’… your subconscious mind is holding that. When you say ‘I have depression…’ Yup, you guessed it, your subconscious mind is holding onto that.

Now, very specific I’m not saying anxiety and depression aren’t real. They are all very real and diagnosis is a huge step to beat it…but what if instead of saying ‘I have depression’ you tried ‘I beat depression‘? I beat depression every single day. I beat depression down Muhammad Ali style.

Try it.

Say it out loud.

I beat depression everyday.”

Does it feel good? Just a little?

If you are telling your subconscious mind I beat depression then what is your subconscious mind going to relay? When you use the tools I give you to beat depression everyday, then what’s going to happen?

You beat depression everyday.

You see the vision and you make it happen.

In my last blog I explained how good feelings build serotonin and other happy chemicals in the brain. If you think and feel negatively, you put stress on yourself and your body. This stress decreases the chemical levels in your brain. You need these chemicals to beat depression.

Because you are beating depression you have to keep your serotonin (and other happy chemicals) levels up. Does that mean you should be happy 24/7? No. Still, it does mean you shouldn’t feel like locking yourself in a dark closet for the rest of the day.

I’m going to give you the tools you need. These tools will help you wean yourself off the bad foods. You can use the good foods to reboot your brain. This is so your brain can again build serotonin and dopamine levels by itself. It can do this without the help of bad foods. It’s important you understand to beat depression everyday is a lifestyle change. You are transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly and now drinking nectar instead of eating leaves. It won’t feel that way, at first, but eventually you will realize how sweet the transforming taste.

I’m going to give you tools to do this, but it’s up to you to use them. Are you going to drive the nail through the wood with the hammer? OR Are you going to keep trying to use your hand? Seriously, ouch! Just take the hammer.

I’m writing this for you, friends. I believe in you. I believe you can make these positive changes in your life. I’ve figured out how to beat depression every day and I have faith you will too. (Most important, you have to keep faith.) I think every single person out there that suffers from depression can use these methods. They can beat it every day too. Sure, you’ll encounter paths of hardship, anger, stress, and sadness. Having the tools to positively deal with these bumpy roads will significantly change your health. You will change your outlook on life while beating depression down every day and never questioning your self worth again.

Y’ all ready for this? (Cue the song)

This is the follow up to the blog, as promised. The Brain Boosting Lifestyle change offers the first tool to start your three month brain reboot. (I recommend checking with your health professional for your personal health needs. I also don’t recommend ever changing medication without a professional’s advice. All our bodies, brains & experiences are different and this should be tweaked and customized per individual).

I’m so excited about how this lifestyle change has transformed me. I want to shout it out to the world. I also want to help everyone and anyone else that needs and will use this information. I’m giving you all the tools you need, minus the years and months of trial and error. Depression sucks. Seriously, sucks. If you can have control of that, why wouldn’t you?

We start here.

Bad News: Your one month of bad carbs weaning does NOT count. It is not part of your sixty-six brain reboot (habit change).

Good News: Weaning off bad carbs (we are including soda, juices, candy etc.) slowly every week is going to make your reboot more manageable. If you don’t wean your brain and body before month one, it will be unbearable. Your body will feel like it’s in shock and unable to function.

You are officially going to wean off bad carbs. This process will take three weeks. Then, you will start the Brain Boosting Lifestyle Change (BBLC). (The crowd goes wild) This isn’t going to be easy. Be positive like The Little Engine That Could. Instead of saying “I think I can… I think I can…” repeat “I know I will. I know I will.”

I’m right here if you need any guidance. I can assist and answer any questions. Feel free to ask about my personal experiences while changing my brain lifestyle.

Find the monthly guidance chart below by clicking on the Download. Also, don’t forget to print out the Fighting Spices blog to keep in your kitchen.

PS: Keep drinking lots of water! It’s important to curb appetite and stay healthy.

(AND SUBSCRIBE below so you don’t miss the three month “workbook” to guide you through the rest of brain reboot)

Good luck, friends!
