I wanted a smoothie drink fit for fall, brain boosting and delicious. Here are the results, Brain Boosting Pumpkin Smoothie. Taste like pumpkin pie!
I’m nuts over it and had to share it with you, friends!
You have read my other blogs on fighting depression naturally. I add recipes to my everyday lifestyle to beat depression. Or if you’ve tried some of my Brain Boosting recipes already, you know I add recipes. I incorporate recipes like these into my everyday lifestyle. I especially use fighting spices in almost every meal. When I share recipes with you, I do more than just list the ingredients. I explain why the ingredients are healthy for your brain and body.
In this approx. 255 calorie smoothie, ingredients are Non-GMO and natural.

| 1/2 Cup of Pumpkin Puree | If you are on the Brain Boosting Lifestyle change, its easy to skip the can and go fresh. You can cook the pumpkin in the oven or pressure cooker. If you buy can, reach for organic and Non GMO. Pumpkin reduces risk of chronic disease such as heart and cancer, boost immunity, good for your skin, weight loss, asthma, regulate blood pressure, diabetes and more. |
| 2 Cups of (NON GMO) Almond Milk | You can substitute but I choose Almond as part of reducing my daily dairy intake. Almond Milk holds vitamin E, protein, calcium, (often added) vitamin D and reduce heart disease. |
| 1 tsp organic/natural honey | Honey is show to have benefits like fighting depression, anxiety along with some other neurological effects. It’s rich in antioxidants, upper respiratory track infections, fights cancer, heart disease and diabetes. |
| 1 tsp organic/natural Maple Syrup | Pure maple syrup is loaded with antioxidants, fights inflammatory, cancer fighting, skin health, and protect against Alzheimer’s and Dementia |
| 1/2 tsp real vanilla or 1/4 vanilla bean | (If you don’t use pure vanilla and use an extract, it does not have these benefits) Antioxidants, reduces depression and anxiety, inflammatory, lesser risk of cancer and diabetes |
| 1/4 tsp Cinnamon | It fights depression and anxiety. It lowers blood sugar levels and is anti-inflammatory. It lowers heart disease risk and fights Alzheimer and Parkinson’s diseases. It also protects against cancer, among other benefits. |
| pinch of Nutmeg | Fights depression, anxiety, anti-inflammatory, indigestion, skin, reduce heart disease, cognitive ability, prevent leukemia, etc |
| 1/4 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice | (usually includes cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger) Cloves help with depression and anxiety. They regulate blood sugar and support liver health. Cloves also protect against cancer and reduce stomach ulcers. And Ginger: cognitive health, enhance brain role directly, eases arthritis, lower blood sugar, lower cholesterol etc. (Nutmeg and Cinnamon listed above) |
| 1/2 tsp Flaxseed | Lots of Omega-3 (brain food), reduce cancer, improve cholesterol and blood pressure, heart healthy (inflammation reducing) etc. |
| 1/2 tsp Chia seed | Antioxidants, Omega- 3s (Brain food), fight heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, regulate immune system and inflammation |
| 1 banana | Antioxidants, heart healthy, improve digestion, lower blood sugar levels, kidney health |
If you’d like, you can add a 1/4 avocado to boost the Omega-3s and gain other benefits from avocado.
On a side note, I’d love for you to notice the good ingredient pattern. It fights Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Cancer, and Diabetes. (Omega 3s haven’t proven to delay the fight in these things but the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals inside foods have). Make sure to wash all non-organic fruits and veggies with a natural wash like Fit.
Okay, so now, blend your smoothie, shake – shake – shake and hit the blender one more time.
Then…
Pour and you are ready to drink!
Cheers, friends! Enjoy the yummy!
